MUZAFFARABAD: Dengue fever is growing day by day in Azad Jammu Kashmir as the health department seems to be failed to overcome the situation due to insufficient resources and expertise, the sources said on Tuesday.
The number of Dengue suffered reported so far at Abbas institute of Medical Science (AIMS) has reached 52, some of which have recovered and discharged from the hospital, the in-charge of the ward said adding the number was 49 by Sunday.
“Efforts are underway to overcome the situation and the suspected areas are being sprayed to eliminate Dengue larva but the shortage of resources are creating problems,” In-Charge of the program, Dr Abdul Rasheed Mughal said.
“They have dispatched daily wage laborers to spray in different areas on rented vehicle who are untrained and not committed, how can they destroy the larva to overcome the further spread of Dengue?,” the source said.
Dr Mughal appealed people to keep their surrounding environment clean and help health workers to eradicate the epidemic and said his team was bringing all out efforts to overcome the spread of disease.
