PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly with Deputy Speaker Mehtr Taj Roghani in the chair on Monday constituted a committee to identify dangerous coalmine sites located in the province in order to avoid mishaps that usually occurred in coalmines.
The motion brought in the House through a point of order of Rashad Khan of PML-N also called for conducting an inquiry into the Orakzai coalmines explosion on last Saturday. The House also offered Fatiha for the victims of the coalmine incident in Orakzai agency that left seven people dead and 44 others injured.
Rashad Khan said thousands of children have been orphaned and there are no criteria of KP government to announce compensation package for miners. Supported by Abdul Munam Khan of PTI, he said that 10 to 15 labourers fell victims to tragic incidents in mines after every three months. He said that the government should form a committee to review the working environment in the coalmines.
Minister for Mineral and Mines Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli said KP governor would be approached to inquire the incident by a team of experts. She said that they need latest technology for getting information whether the coalmine is dangerous or not. She urged the lawmakers to inform the quarters concerned about dangerous coalmines sites in their constituencies.
Later, the chair constituted a committee comprising CM’s Adviser on Information Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, Abdul Munam Khan, Anisa Zeb Tahir Kheli and Rashad Khan for identifying dangerously located coalmines in the province.
